MAUI LANI STEPS UP SUPPORT OF MAUI COMMUNITY WITH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE GOLF TOURNAMENT AND GALA, JOB CREATION, CIVIC WORK BY TOP STAFFERS

MAUI LANI - May 7, 2004 - Maui Lani Partners, and The Dunes at Maui Lani golf course, are stepping up efforts to reach out and support the local Maui community.

One example is its role in the 10th Annual Maui Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament & Gala, which was hosted by The Dunes at Maui Lani golf course today.

The purpose of the event was to raise money, not only for the Chamber, but for charities such as the Boy Scouts of America. "We have always made an effort to support the Maui community," said Dave Gleason, the well-known course general manager and recently named Maui Lani partner. "We are stepping up our efforts in many ways," he added

The sold out 10 th Annual Maui Chamber of Commerce Golf Tournament & Gala was just one example of Maui Lani's efforts to support the local community.

The all-day function, hosted by Maui Lani, included an outdoor luncheon featuring seared Ono sandwiches, salads, and other grilled favorites prepared by "Dunes" chefs, an 18 hole two-man scramble tournament at The Dunes at Maui Lani golf course (won by the team of Skip Elkins and Darren Jones, with a net score of 58.6), and an elaborate dinner gala party and banquet buffet, with live entertainment by Willie "K," awards presentations, door prizes of all kinds, and even a silent auction, all hosted by Maui Lani.

It was the Chamber's 10th golf tourney, and the culmination of much time and effort by its organizers and sponsors. Steve Williams, current Chamber chairman of the board, and Dickie Moon, Chamber board member, were "instrumental in making this the best Chamber tournament yet," adds Maui Lani partner Dave Gleason. "Lynne Woods, Stacie Thorlakson , and the Dunes and Chamber staffs all did a great job," he noted.

The Chamber Gala was one example of what Maui Lani is doing to "reach out and touch" the local community. It has, for years, made its fairways available to Maui's junior golfers, and has raised thousands for local charities through a myriad of special events, such as its annual all-day Golf Fest, which is scheduled this year on Saturday, September 18, 2004.

By moving local residents into prominent positions, Maui Lani is creating new job opportunities while at the same time preserving our heritage. Dave Gleason is a fixture in the Hawaii community, and has served on numerous non-profit boards and committees always with the selfless goal of building goodwill for the community. He has served as the chairman of the Maui Visitors Bureau, board member and finance committee chair of the Hawaii Tourism Authority, board member of the Maui Chamber of Commerce, and board member of the Maui YMCA, just to name a few. His involvement with junior golf, and the PGA (he was named PGA Golf Professional of the Year twice: once for Hawaii's Aloha Section, the other for the United States), are symbolic of the type of leadership Maui Lani wants to bring to bear on behalf of Maui Lani and the Maui community, as a whole.

While Maui Lani claims it "fosters" a sense of community within and around its own residential projects. Its recent promotion of Dunes at Maui Lani general manager Dave Gleason, and Maui Lani general manager Leiane Paci, to full partners, respectively, sends the community a strong message that Maui Lani is committed to building ties within the community by promoting local residents to higher levels, through the creation of new jobs, and by retaining its employees for years.

The Dunes at Maui Lani golf course celebrated the five year anniversaries of its many long-time staffers during a special golf tournament and dinner party. During the dinner, certificates of appreciation and gold clips commemorating the staffers' five years of service were awarded. Leiane Paci and Dave Gleason were on hand as recipients, to present the awards, and to update the entire Maui Lani staff on what is happening within the Maui Lani community as a whole. This spirit of ohana is another example of how Maui Lani is indeed "fostering a sense of community."

Maui Lani, a Mills Group Development, is managed locally by Maui Lani Partners, LLC. David H. Gleason, and Leiane Paci, are the organization's sole Maui-based partners. Maui Lani is a project district zoned master-planned community of quality homes and residential communities with The Dunes at Maui Lani golf course, as its centerpiece.

Maui Lani is also home to the newly constructed Kaiser Medical Center, The Legends (a Schuler development of moderately priced homes), and the proposed Maui Lani Elementary School.
